There's an article about malaria in the NY Times today and I just thought I'd post this helpful graphic. I don't take any anti-malarial pills anymore, so if you San Francisco colleagues see me exhibiting any subtle warning signs over the next few weeks, such as vomiting all over my desk or lapsing into a coma, you know the deal.
Ganesh willing, in less than 36 hours I will be on a plane headed to California. Which means I'll arrive there in, oh, 66 to 70 hours. At least my gold-plated-titanium medallion status with Delta means I'm likely to get a cabin upgrade from JFK to SFO. Five hours of business class is better than none, that's what I always say, especially when they give you Godiva chocolates and free booze. Sure, the flight leaves at 8:00 a.m. New York time, but my internal clock will say it's cocktail hour. OK, my internal clock always says that, but this time it will actually be vaguely legit.
UPDATED TO ADD: Well, the business class section of the NY-SF flight is already full, so no upgrade for me unless someone cancels. And also, the India-to-New York flight has approximately 4 seats empty (of 268), none of which is next to mine. It's going to be a miserable, miserable 30+ hours. Bleh.
